Audrey Tautou
Audrey Tautou, the oldest of her four siblings, was born on the 8th of August 1976 in Beaumont Puy-de Domme. The parents of Audrey Tautou, both a dental dentist and teacher, were aware of and supported their daughter's enthusiasm for acting and drama on a young stage. The support they provided was more than enough to thwart her initial desire to become primatologist. Her meteoric rise as a young actress was quick and marked by her early successes. In 1998 after her studies, she took part in the French program for scouting talent on TV called Jeunes Premiers which was sponsored by Canal+ and won Best Young Actress at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors before beginning her acting career in earnest. Tautou went to church and Institut Catholique de Paris during her youth, however she now dissociates herself from her childhood. Apart from her acting work, she is also pursuing modeling. She modelled in the commercials for L'Oreal Mont Blanc, Chanel and is known as "The Chanel Muse". An avid photographer, she created a show at The Arles International Festival that was titled Superficial. Her photographs is mainly focused on celebrities and the spotlight. Cameras are focused towards journalists who scrutinized her during her rise to the heights of fame in Amelie. Audrey Tautou's first big part, playing Amelie Poulain's leading actor in Le Fabuleux d'Amelie Poulain, brought the actress international fame. Amelie achieved international success in the field of box office, and was awarded awards across the world. The film is still the top-grossing French language film in the US. In the following year, she starred in British dramas, including Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things as well as Jean-Pierre Junet's Un long dimanche de fiancailles. After that, Tautou went to Hollywood in the United States, where Ron Howard directed the Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code.
